Buffett Foundation <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> City Administration recommends City Council approval of the attached resolution authorizing <br /> the acceptance of grant funds in the amount of$150,000 from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation <br /> through a Grant Agreement between the County of Macon and the City of Decatur. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Howard G. Buffett Foundation has awarded grant funding in the amount of$150,000 to <br /> support public safety initiatives for the Decatur Fire Department. The funds will be utilized to <br /> enhance emergency response capabilities through the acquisition of cardiac monitors and <br /> portable radios. <br /> Acceptance of these grant funds will allow the Decatur Fire Department to continue improving <br /> operational readiness, firefighter safety, and emergency medical response capabilities without <br /> placing additional burden on local taxpayers. <br /> The attached resolution authorizes the City Manager or designee to execute the Grant Agreement <br /> between the County of Macon and the City of Decatur for the acceptance of the awarded funds. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Neil Elder, Fire Chief, 424-2811, Toby Jackson, Assistant Fire Chief, <br /> 424-2811. Chief Elder will attend the council meeting to answer any questions the Council may <br /> have regarding this purchase. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: The grant agreement provides funding in the amount of <br /> $150,000 to the City of Decatur through the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. Funds will be <br /> utilized for portable radios and the first lease payment to acquire 12-lead cardiac monitors. <br />
