Planning
Field and adjacent lands
The overall planned area is 99.0 acres. The land is owned by Lynn Clarkson. The projected area of
impact of the project is expected to have little to no effect on adjacent lands outside of the planning area.
Crops and soils
The cropping rotation consists of corn and soybeans. A complete soils description, including capability
class, representative slope and drainage class are included in Table 1.
Table 1.Soils summary of planned area
Approximate Land Representative Saturated Hydraulic Drainage
Soil Name Symbol Capability Slope Conductivity Class
Acres Class (%) (inlhr,0-36 inches) (Dominant)
Elburn silt loam,0 Somewhat
to 2 percent 198A 38.7 1 1.0 1.3 poorly
slopes drained
Plano silt loam,2
to 5 percent 199B2 25.8 2e 3.5 1.3 Well drained
slopes,eroded
Drummer silty Poorly
clay loam,0 to 2 152A 19.2 2w 0.5 1.3 drained
percent slopes
Proctor silt loam,
2 to 5 percent 148B2 14.2 2e 4.0 1.3 Well drained
slopes,eroded
Flanagan silt Somewhat
loam,0 to 2 154A 0.8 1 0.9 1.0 poorly
percent slopes drained
Dana silt loam,2 — —--- --— Moderately
to 5 percent 56B2 0.2 2e 4.0 1.3
slopes,eroded well drained
Drummer-Milford
silty clay foams,0
to 2 percent 7722A 0.1 2w 0.5 1 3 Poorly
slopes,rarely drained
flooded
Topography and hydrology
The planned area generally slopes from southeast to northwest. An existing grass waterway cuts through
the west portion of the planned area and a roadside ditch(CR 950N)along the northern boundary. There
do not appear to be any isolated surface depressions within the planned area. Based on SSURGO
records, the Drummer silty clay loam soil types are classified as having frequent, brief shallow ponding.
These concerns are likely to be alleviated by the existing subsurface drainage. No soil types within the
planned area are classified as having flooding concerns. If not already completed by the local NRCS,an
NRCS wetland determination should be completed prior to implementation.
Existing or planned drainage and/or irrigation systems
There is an existing subsurface drainage system in the planned area. Two submain drains parallel the
existing grass waterway, culminating in an 12-inch corrugated plastic pipe(CPP)dual wall main drain,
flowing west and paralleling the roadside ditch along CR 950N. The 12-inch CPP dual wall outlets to a
headwall at the southeast corner of the intersection of CR 950N and CR 200E. Parallel 4-inch CPP
laterals drain to the associated submains, spaced at approximately 100-ft spacing.A map of the existing
subsurface drainage system is attached.
No irrigation is currently planned for this field.
