The minutes of the meeting are attached.
BACKGROUND:
Sky's the Limit Tree Service is a local business offering a variety of services, including emergency
tree removal, tree trimming, stump grinding, land clearing, and mulch sales and delivery. The
business has experienced significant growth over the past several years and is now in need of
additional space to support its expansion.
The request is to rezone their existing property, currently zoned M-2 Heavy Industrial District and
R-3 Single Family Residence, along with a portion of property located at 271 South 26th Street
leased from the Decatur Park District, currently zoned R-3 Single-Family Residence District, to
PD Planned Development District.
The business will continue operations as usual at its current site. On the leased property,
improvements will include the installation of a six-foot (6') tall composite fence along the west,
north, and east boundaries, located at the top of the berm. There is an approximate six-foot grade
change from the top of the berm down to the bottom of the leased property. In addition, a fifty-
foot(50') landscaped buffer yard will be provided on the outside of the fence.
No permanent structures will be constructed on the leased property. The area will be used only for
temporary storage of landscape materials, such as vegetation and mulch. Existing trees along the
south side of the property will remain, providing a natural screen between U.S. Route 36 and the
site.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objectors to the petition
