7/2/2015 Coversheet
Public Works
2015-27
DATE: 6/24/2015
TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council Members
FROM: Richard G. Marley, P.E., Public Works Director
SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing a Water Service Agreement for 4333 North Taylor Avenue
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached
resolution authorizing a Water Service Agreement between the City of Decatur and the property owners for 4333
North Taylor Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Decatur extended a 16 inch water main along North Taylor Avenue as part of a phased
approach toward creating a water main interconnection on the northwest side of the City of Decatur between
Oakland Avenue and West Mound Road. As is typical with these extensions, residents periodically request
permission to tap into these water lines to service properties which are located outside of the City limits and
existing water agreement areas. To service properties outside of the City limits, a Water Service Agreement
must be entered .into between the City and the property owners.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this resolution and agreement.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None
SCHEDULE:
If approved, the owners will pay all applicable tapping fees and permits prior to connection to the city water
main by a licensed plumber.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
Budget Impact: Water rates for those properties outside of the City are double the normal rate paid by
customers located within the corporate limits. In addition, when these properties become contiguous to the
corporate limits, they are required to annex to the City.
Staffing Impact: No additional staffing impact will be realized by this agreement.
STAFF REFERENCE: David Horn, Supervisor of Technical Services, at 217-424-2747. Mr. Marley will be in
attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item. This Memorandum
was prepared by David A. Horn.
ATTACHMENTS:
Description Type
o Water Service Agreement 2015-27 Cover Memo
o Resolution 2015-27 Cover Memo
o GIS MAP Cover Memo
0 location Man Cover Memo
0 Boundary Man Cover Memo
REVIEWERS:
Department Reviewer Action Date
httpJ/decalur.nm sagerda.conNagendapublicJCo%erSheet.asp MtmiD=122&Meeting lD=8 1/2
