PURCHASING& INTERNAL SERVICES MEMORANDUM <br /> #15-06 <br /> June 4, 2015 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager <br /> Gregg Zientara, Financial Management Director <br /> Deborah M. Perry, Purchasing Supervisor <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for tree &bush removal <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Clean Sweep Tree <br /> Service to furnish herbicide application and tree and bush removal along South U.S. Route 51 <br /> Northbound embankment adjacent to Lake Decatur. <br /> BACKGROUND: This project is being done for landscape maintenance of the shoreline. In addition, <br /> from a safety standpoint, it will open the view of traffic on the road. Similar projects were completed in <br /> 2014 on Lost Bridge Rd—Westbound, 2013 on Lost Bridge Rd—Eastbound, 2012 on William Street Rd., <br /> 2011 on Lake Shore Drive, 2009 on Route 51 Northbound and 2007 on Rea's Bridge Road. <br /> A condition of the bid was the successful vendor must dispose of the landscape debris from this project in <br /> a legal and proper manner or in a landscape waste facility. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Lake Services requested the work and wrote the specifications. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Keith Alexander, Director of Water Management, 424-2863. Randy Miller, <br /> Water Services Manager, 875-5705. Keith will be at the meeting to answer any questions the council may <br /> have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: Tree and brush removal services at a cost not to exceed $100,000 are a routine annual <br /> expenditure in the Lake Services operating budget. <br /> $87,250 Tree & Bush Removal <br /> $ 250 Herbicide Application <br /> $87,500 Bid Total <br />
