Public Works Memorandum
NO. 2015-17
DATE: May 14, 2015
TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council
FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager
Richard G. Marley, P.E., Public Works Director
SUBJECT: Rejection of Bids for the 2015 Miscellaneous Sanitary and Storm Sewer
Improvement Project,
City Project 2015-09
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution rejecting all bids for the
2015 Miscellaneous Sanitary and Storm Sewer Improvement Project, City Project 2015-09.
PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION:
The Miscellaneous Sanitary and Storm Sewer Improvement Project is an annual project put out
every year by the City.
BACKGROUND:
General Project Description
The 2015 Miscellaneous Sanitary& Storm Sewer Improvement Project removes and replaces
damaged sanitary and storm sewer elements throughout the City as they are identified through
televised inspections and routine maintenance. This project enables the City to perform rapid
response work as sewer system problems arise and must be addressed quickly. Having unit bid
prices in place for sewer repairs enables the City to move rapidly to address collapsed pipe or
sink holes as they are located in the sewer system and before they turn into major public
problems. This also reduces the number of emergency time and material repair contracts that
must be brought before the City Council.
Bid Rejection Recommendation
Following review by City staff it is recommended that the City Council reject all bids to allow
the project scope of services to be modified before the project is rebid.
SCHEDULE:
The project will be rebid in late May.
Page 11
