Aldrich, Manager, MIS Division <br /> SUBJECT: VMware Horizon View Upgrade <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the <br /> attached resolution, authorizing the purchase of VMware Horizon View upgrade and <br /> support, per the attached Netech quote of$27,035.10. <br /> BACKGROUND: This is a quote to upgrade one hundred (100) VMware Horizon View <br /> Standard Edition licenses to the Advanced Edition. The Advance Edition includes View <br /> Manager, Mirage, Workspace, ThinApp and vCenter Ops Manager, which are all <br /> features to facilitate the virtual desktop infrastructure migration by the City. The virtual <br /> desktop allows for central data processing from remote desktop locations. Also included <br /> in the purchase is one year of 247 support. <br /> The purchase price is based on the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) <br /> Illinois state contract. The MHEC contract is a state contract for purchasing VMware. <br /> MHEC allows for local government to purchase VMware licenses, renewals and services <br /> from Netech. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTORS: None anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Gerard J. Bauer, Assistant City Manager (424-2801), and Randy <br /> Aldrich, MIS Manager (450-2239), will be present at the Council meeting to respond to <br /> potential questions. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: The $27,035.10 will be paid from the MIS capital <br /> expense line item, and is provided for in the approved Fiscal Year 2015 Budget. <br /> 2 Attachments <br />
