McElroy and City Council
FROM: Wendy Morthland, Corporation Counsel
Susan Kretsinger, Neighborhood Inspections Administrator
SUBJECT: Unsafe Structures
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: An item on the agenda for the meeting of January
20, 2015, is a resolution authorizing action regarding unsafe structures. City staff
recommends approval.
BACKGROUND: This is the beginning of the process seeking court-ordered demolition
of unsafe and abandoned structures throughout the community.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None anticipated at this time.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Legal Department staff.
STAFF REFERENCES: Any questions may be forwarded to Wendy Morthland at 424-
2807, or email at wmorthland(a)-decaturil.gov or Susan Kretsinger at 424-2794 or email
at skretsinaer(a)decaturil.gov
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: The source of the funding of these demolitions will be
determined at the time Judgments are obtained.
