McCrady, City Manager Billy Tyus, Assistant City Manager for Development Services SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing Execution of a Preliminary Engineering Services Agreement for Federal Participation with Massie Massie &Associates for Decatur Corridor Monument Installation Project, Project No. TE- OOD7(040)) SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize this agreement for required engineering and planning work for the city's ITEP Corridors Monument Installation enhancement grant. BACKGROUND: The State of Illinois announced that the City would be receiving a grant of up to $1 million in early 2010 as part of the Illinois Transportation Enhancement grant program to address the condition of local corridors. The grant provides an 80% reimbursement for certain costs intended to be used to improve the appearance of two of the City's primary entryways-U.S. 51 and U.S. Route 36/Eldorado Street- specifically through the addition of monuments, signage and landmarks. Massie Massie &Associates has served as the city's consultant and project manager since the start of the project and this agreement is required to allow for state required engineering, planning and environmental work. The agreement would be for an amount of up to $106,070, 80% of which would be reimbursable through the grant. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution.
