Anderson Plaza <br /> Decatur, IL 62523 <br /> Re: Construction Engineering Agreement Supplement <br /> Lake Decatur Dam Repairs—Phase II <br /> City of Decatur <br /> City Project 2012-25 <br /> Hanson No: 08LO198D <br /> Dear Mr. Newell: <br /> This letter is a request for additional compensation under the Agreement authorizing Construction <br /> Engineering Services for the Lake Decatur Dam Repairs Project—Phase 11 dated August 19, 2013. <br /> The original agreement for construction engineering services included on-site observation of the <br /> contractor's activities with an assumed frequency of 15 hours per week over a 60 week period. In <br /> addition, construction administration included review of submittals, response to requests for <br /> information, review of pay applications, and preparation of record drawings. <br /> At the beginning of August, 2014 the remaining budget was approximately$8,000. We anticipated <br /> that our remaining effort included: site visits to observe the contractor's activities; prepare record <br /> drawings; and review the final pay application. The remaining contractor activity included <br /> completion of Preplaced Aggregate Concrete repairs on the downstream spillway face and <br /> remaining punchlist items. At that time,we believed that we could complete the project within the <br /> remaining budget. <br /> During the month of August 2014, Hanson logged approximately 220 hours of effort for on-site <br /> observation and construction administration. A number of issues related to the performance of the <br /> contractor on the Preplaced Aggregate Concrete required increased time for on-site observation, <br /> including work on Saturday and Sunday. We estimate that the additional compensation required <br /> for increased coordination and observation is$11,700. <br /> We regret that the effort significantly exceeded the contract amount.
