COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM <br /> PURCHASING & INTERNAL SERVICES MEMORANDUM <br /> #14-13 <br /> August 12, 2014 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager <br /> Gregg Zientara, Financial Management Director <br /> Deborah M. Perry, Purchasing Supervisor <br /> SUBJECT: Demolition of Property—419 N. Mercer <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Steve's <br /> Trucking, Inc. to remove asbestos, do necessary plumbing and demolish the property at 419 N. <br /> Mercer. <br /> BACKGROUND: This is a court ordered demolition. Anthony Chavez and Christopher <br /> Chavez are the owners of the property. <br /> At this time, the successful bidder is not on the SAM (System for Award Management) list. This <br /> is a federal debar list used when federal funds are involved. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Neighborhood Services requested the demolition. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Billy Tyus, Assistant City Manager for Development Services, 424- <br /> 2727. Wendy Morthland, Corporation Counsel, 424-2807. Richelle Irons, Director of <br /> Neighborhood Services, 424-2864. Sean Gadberry, Neighborhood Inspections Administrator, <br /> 424-2794. Billy and/or Richelle will be at the council meeting to answer any questions the <br /> council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $20,200.00 from Community Development Block Grant. <br />
