MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT <br /> I.A.F.F., LOCAL 505 <br /> CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS <br /> This Memorandum of Agreement between Local Union 505, International Association of <br /> Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO, CLC and the City of Decatur, Illinois, is signed on behalf of said Union <br /> by the President thereof and on behalf of the City by the City Manager as follows: <br /> ARTICLE 1 <br /> GENERAL <br /> Section 1. The City of Decatur, Illinois, hereinafter referred to as "CITY' and Local 505, <br /> International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO, CLC, hereinafter referred to as "UNION" in <br /> order to increase the efficiency of the Fire Department of the City, to maintain the existing <br /> harmonious relationship between the City and those of its employees in the fire fighting service <br /> and to promote the morale, rights, privileges and well-being of said employees, do enter into this <br /> Memorandum of Agreement. <br /> Section 2. The employees of the Fire Department of the City and the individual <br /> members of the Union shall regard themselves as employees of the public and are to be <br /> governed by the highest ideals of honor and integrity in all their public and personal conduct in <br /> order that they may merit the respect and confidence of the public which employs them and <br /> which they serve. <br /> Section 3. The City recognizes the Union as the sole and exclusive representative of <br /> the classified fire service employees of the Fire Department of the City with the exception of the <br /> Chief, Deputy Chief, Battalion Chiefs, and Fire Marshal of said Department for the purpose of <br /> bargaining with respect to wages, hours of duty and working conditions. <br /> ARTICLE 2 <br /> PLACES OF RESIDENCE <br /> Section 1. Persons appointed to positions in the classified fire service prior to May 1, <br /> 2010 shall reside within forty (40) miles of the corporate limits of the City of Decatur. All <br /> employees hired May 1, 2010 or after shall be required to reside within Macon County. Upon <br /> original appointment, an appointee may reside outside said limits but shall be required as a <br /> condition of continued employment to comply with said residency requirement no later than <br /> ninety(90) days after the completion of said appointee's probationary period. <br /> ARTICLE 3 <br /> CHECK-OFF <br /> Section 1. Upon written authorization by an employee filed with the Director of Finance <br /> thereof, the City shall deduct from wages or salary of such employee such sum as is certified by <br /> the Treasurer of the Union as initiation fee, assessment, union dues, and any other mutually <br /> 3 <br />
