ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - For several years the City has looked at ways to establish a Community <br /> Fiber Network that could be used not only for municipal government needs, but also to promote <br /> economic growth locally. By installing fiber to address City needs, it would serve as the first step for <br /> building such a Community Fiber Network. <br /> THE PLAN <br /> Once bids are received for the network infrastructure, City staff will analyze the opportunities they <br /> present and make a recommendation to City Council on the steps to take to institute a comprehensive <br /> City fiber optic network. Funding will also be analyzed to indicate how best to finance any <br /> recommendations that result from the review of bids.
