7/2/2015 Cowsheet <br /> Public Works <br /> 2015-30 <br /> DATE: 6/25/2015 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager <br /> Richard G.Marley,P.E.,Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Annexing Territory—3314 North Westlawn Ave <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the subject annexation petition be approved. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The subject property adjoins Decatur City limits on the west, north and east. Property to the south is located in <br /> the County. The lot contains approximately 2.43 acres. The lot is improved with a residence. The following <br /> information is relevant to the areas in question: <br /> 1. City water is currently available and connected to the subject property. <br /> 2. No additional public infrastructure or municipal services are needed or contemplated. <br /> 3. Decatur Fire response distance and time averages 3.3 miles and 6 minutes, respectively. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The plat and annexation request has been reviewed by Engineering, <br /> Finance, Fire, Legal, Macon County Health Department, Municipal Services Division, Planning & Building <br /> Services, Neighborhood Services, and Water Services. All of the reviewers recommend the annexation be <br /> approved. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Based on the current assessed value, approximately$405 in real estate, $67 in otor fuel and $231 in state <br /> income taxes may be realized annually by annexing the property. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director and Matt Newell, City Engineer.
