Excerpts from Plan Commission Minutes of February 5,2015: <br /> i <br /> Cal.No. 15-05 Petition of TONY WILLIAMS N,to vacate a portion <br /> of the Ridge Avenue Right-of-Way located in the 400 <br /> i BLOCK OF RIDGE AVENUE <br /> Ms. Suzy Stickle was sworn in by Mrs. Janet Poland. <br /> Ms. Stickle presented the recommendation of staff: <br /> The petitioner is requesting to vacate a portion of the 60 foot Right-of-Wa (ROW) located in the <br /> 400 Block of Ridge Avenue. The ROW to be vacated is 35 feet by 60 feet totaling 2,100 square <br /> feet in area. <br /> The petitioner owns property on the north side of the ROW requested tq be vacated. All other <br /> property owners adjacent to the ROW have been notified of the request to vacate and no objections <br /> have been expressed. <br /> The vacation will enable the petitioner to control the improved ROW and utilize the area as part of <br /> his property. <br /> Letters were sent to Ameren Illinois, Comcast Communications, and AT&T notifying the utility <br /> companies of the vacation request and no objections to the proposed Righ-of-Way vacation were <br /> expressed. A blanket easement will be maintained. <br /> An appraisal was commissioned for the 2,100 square foot Right-of-Wayith a market value of <br /> $0.50 per square foot totaling $1,050.00. The petitioner will pay the City �f Decatur $1,050.00 to <br /> vacate the Right-of-Way in the 400 Block of Ridge Avenue. <br /> It would be in the City's best interest to vacate this portion of ROW as the rmal vacation does not <br /> appear that it will have an adverse affect on the general public. <br /> Staff recommends approval of the ROW vacation with the following condition: <br /> a. A blanket easement shall be maintained. <br /> The Administrative Policy of the City of Decatur requires that property vacation requests be <br /> submitted to the Plan Commission for a public hearing. Although a Plan Commission <br /> recommendation is not required, a motion to forward the vacation request of Calendar Number 15- <br /> 05 to the City Council with a recommendation for approval is suggested. <br /> Mr.Matt Dial asked if this was the piece of property between the two house$. Ms. Stickle said yes. <br /> Mr. Tony Williamson,petitioner,was sworn in by Mrs. Poland. <br /> Mr. Williamson stated he wants to clean up this piece of property and did not want to clean it up <br /> unless he owned it. <br /> There were no questions and no objectors present. <br /> It was moved and seconded(Dial/Frantz)to forward Calendar No. 15-05 to the City Council with a <br /> recommendation for approval.
