Griffin explained that the goal with installing stop signs is not to slow the traffic down since this <br /> typically does not work. The recorded speeds are generally at or below what,is normally seen on <br /> low volume residential streets in the City. The concern was the number of accidents that have <br /> happened at these intersections. The stop signs should address the accident problem. <br /> Marian Winter asked if there will be less traffic on 21 st Street once the construction work on 22nd <br /> Street is done. <br /> Griffin said it is a possibility. The traffic counts are still generally low. <br /> Wick Anderson asked what the posted speed limit is. <br /> Griffin said the speed limit is 30 m.p.h. on residential streets in Illinois. <br /> Wick Anderson motioned to approve stop signs be installed facing Moore Street; seconded by <br /> Matt Newell, and on call of the roll, Commission Members Anderson, Winter, Ninnemann, <br /> Newell, Chervinko and Stewart voted aye. The Chairman declared the motion carried. <br />
