PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM <br /> NO. 2014-52 <br /> DATE: October 6, 2014 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager <br /> Richard G. Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Annexing Territory—2206 Dunes Drive <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the subject annexation petition <br /> be approved. <br /> BACKGROUND: The subject property adjoins Decatur City limits on the orth and east. <br /> Property to the west and south is located in the County. The lot contains app oximately 0.637 <br /> acres. The lot is improved with a residence. The following information is rel vant to the areas in <br /> question: <br /> 1. City water is currently available and connected to the subject property. <br /> 2. No additional public infrastructure or municipal services are needed or contemplated. <br /> 3. Decatur Fire response distance and time averages 3.2 miles and 6 mini tes, respectively. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: No known objections. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The plat and annexation request has een reviewed by <br /> Engineering, Finance, Fire, Legal, Macon County Health Department, Muni ipal Services <br /> Division, Planning & Building Services, Neighborhood Services, and Water ervices. All of the <br /> reviewers recommend the annexation be approved. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director and Mattewell, City <br /> Engineer. Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting tp answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Based on the current assessed value, pproximately$561 <br /> in real estate, $85 in motor fuel and $254 in state income taxes may be realiz annually by <br /> annexing the property. <br /> Attach: 4 <br />
