PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM <br /> NO. 2014-44 <br /> DATE:August 25, 2014 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McEh-oy and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Ryan P.McCrady,City Manager <br /> Richard G.Marley,P.E.,Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Annexing Territory—3333 East Fitzgerald Road <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the subject annexation petition be <br /> approved. <br /> BACKGROUND: The subject property adjoins Decatur City limits on the west, east, and south. <br /> Property to the north is located in the County. The lot contains approximately 0.62 acres. The lot <br /> is improved with a residence and accessory buildings. The following information is relevant to <br /> the areas in question: <br /> 1. City water is currently available and connected to the subject property. <br /> 2. No additional public infrastructure or municipal services are needed or;contemplated. <br /> 3. Decatur Fire response distance and time averages 3.85 miles and 7.30 minutes, <br /> respectively. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: No known objections. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The plat and annexation request has been reviewed by <br /> Engineering, Finance, Fire, Legal, Macon County Health Department, Municipal Services <br /> Division, Planning &Building Services, Neighborhood Services, and Water Services. All of the <br /> reviewers recommend the annexation be approved. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director and Matt Newell, City Engineer. <br /> Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the <br /> Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Based on the current assessed value, approximately$460 in <br /> real estate, $85 in motor fuel and $254 in state income taxes may be realized annually by <br /> annexing the property. <br /> Attach: 4 <br />
