DEVELOPMENT SERVICES MEMORANDUM <br /> Memo No. 13 - 77 <br /> November 26, 2013 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Michael T. McElroy and City Council <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager <br /> Billy Tyus, Assistant City Manager <br /> Mark L. Smith, Senior Planner <br /> SUBJECT: Annexation of the Following Property: 1643 South Shores Driv . <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Annexations are predicated upon preiously executed <br /> "Water Service Agreements." Staff recommends the subject annexation petition be approved. <br /> BACKGROUND: Over the last several years city staff has been directed to I ursue, whenever <br /> feasible, extensions of city boundaries through the use of annexation. The abov named property <br /> is bounded by and adjacent to Decatur's City limits. The lot contains 1.25 acr s. It is improved <br /> with a single family residence and accessory uses. The following information s relevant to the <br /> properties proposed to be annexed: <br /> 1. City water is currently available and connected to the named properties. <br /> 2. No additional public infrastructure or municipal services are needed or c ntemplated. <br /> 3. Decatur Fire response distance and time averages 3.8 miles and 7.5 minu es, respectively. <br /> When annexed the property would become zoned R-1, Single Family Residence istrict. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: No known objections. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The plats and annexation requests hav been reviewed <br /> by Municipal Services, Public Works, Fire, Legal, Finance, The Sanitary Distric of Decatur and <br /> Macon County Health Department. All reviewers recommend the annexations be approved. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Questions concerning these annexation requests shou d be forwarded <br /> to Mark Smith at 217.424.2790 or mismith@decaturil.gov or Billy Tyus at 17.424.2727 or <br /> btyus@decaturil.gov. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Based on the tax value, the City's Fin ce Department <br /> estimates $499.41 in real estate, $217.41 in motor fuel and $193.24 in state incor ie taxes may be <br /> realized by annexing the named property. <br />
