COUNCIL MEMORANDUM <br /> #2013-14 <br /> DATE: September 10, 2013 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Michael T. McElroy and City Council <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager <br /> Gerard J. Bauer, Assistant City Manager <br /> SUBJECT: City Code Chapter 7 Changes <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached <br /> ordinance regarding changes to Chapter 7 of City Code that establish the City Manager's <br /> authority to appoint and remove individuals from certain positions. <br /> BACKGROUND: Periodically, Chapter 7 Section 2 of City Code regarding tie City Manager's <br /> authority to appoint and remove individuals from certain positions requires L pdating, to reflect <br /> the current budget and changes that have taken place over time. Thea tached ordinance <br /> effectuates this update, and brings the Code in line with current staffing. <br /> Included in this update are the positions of Economic Development Officer and Planning and <br /> Development Manager, about which we have spoken to City Council in recent study sessions. <br /> These are part of a reorganization of the Development Services Department, being undertaken <br /> to increase the operating efficiency and impact of this Department on the community. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objectors to this update. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Questions regarding the agreement should be directed to me, at 424- <br /> 2801 or rmccradyCa()decaturil.gov. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: There is no budgetary impact for these changes, and they will <br /> be implemented immediately. <br /> attachments <br />
