June 26, 2013
Tony and Julie Maton
3750 West Center Street
Decatur, IL 62526
One of our community's goals is to ensure a safe environment in Decatur's neig borhoods and to
encourage private responsibility to correct unsafe conditions.
I have personally conducted an on site inspection at this address, and the following g City Code
concerns and violations were noted:
CHAPTER 36-2TREES, SHRUBS,AND GROUND COVERS ON CITY PROPERTY.
A. Trees, shrubs and ground covers on private property adjacent to a street, E idewalk,
and/or alley shall not interfere with either vehicular and/or pedestrian traffic using said
street, sidewalk,and/or alley or create a hazard to public safety.
The violation at this address concerns the large cottonwood tree circled in the c y of the aerial
photograph and shown in the two pictures enclosed with this letter. The large dead branches,
which are any branches over two (2)inches in diameter, which are hanging over Center Street
need to be removed. This needs to be done for both compliance with City Code and as an aspect
of a request for property annexation.
If you have questions regarding this, please contact the City of Decatur Urban Forestry Section at
875-4820,Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM.
Sincerel
Randy allison
City Forester
