DEVELOPMENT SERVICES MEMORANDUM
No. 13-49
June 26, 2013
TO: Honorable Mayor Michael T. McElroy and City Council
FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager
Billy Tyus, Assistant City Manager
Suzan M. Stickle, Senior Planner
Joselyn A. Stewart, Transportation Planner
SUBJECT: Amend CUP Conditional Use Permit in the B-1 Neighborhood Shopping District
at 2505 North Main Street
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the CUP amendment.
The City Plan Commission voted 8-0 to recommend approval of this petition at the June 6, 2013
meeting; the minutes of the meeting are attached.
BACKGROUND: The subject site is approximately 0.71 acres and is commercially developed.
Currently there is a drive-thru coffee facility on the site, which has two drive-up windows for
quick in and out service. A walk-up window is on site as well as an outside seating area. The
original Conditional Use Permit allowed for the inclusion of an Automated Teller Machine
(ATM) on site and the petitioner proposes to amend the CUP in order to re-lo ate the Automated
Teller Machine (ATM). The actual ATM drive-thru area is in the same location as the original
CUP but the machine itself will be located further east on the site. The traffic flow will run from
west to east instead of the original flow of east to west.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There were no known objectors at the Plan Commission
Meeting.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The CUP amendment has been reviewed by the City's
Technical Review Committee; Planning, Engineering and Fire have approved the amendment.
STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Jo elyn A. Stewart at
424-2782 or at jstewartgdecaturil.gov.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None.
