McCrady, City Manager Billy Tyus, Assistant City Manager Vasudha Pinnamaraju, Environmental Planner SUBJECT: Setting the Public Hearing for the Southside TIF Tax Incremer t Redevelopment Plan and Project. SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends setting the Public Hearing for the Southside TIF Tax Increment Redevelopment Plan and Project for 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013 in the first floor meeting room of the Decatur Civic Center, 1 Gary K. Anderson Plaza. BACKGROUND: The City has been working on specifications related to 1 he proposed renovation and lease of property at 707 Southside Drive for Decatur Police Department operations. The City is considering the creation of a TIF district for the area in an effort to facilitate the development of this project and, potentially, others on the s to in the future if the project proves to be viable for both the department and BW of Decatur, LLC, the proposed project developer. In order to eliminate hurdles to developme t of this site, the developer will be requesting city assistance through the establishment c f a TIF District, which could help to lower the cost of rent to the City. The TIF Sta ute requires the City to formally adopt the date and place for a public hearing as part of the process of establishing a TIF district. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: We have had discussions with the major taxing districts to notify each of the proposal to create a TIF district to affect redevelopment of the site.
