McCrady, City Manager <br /> Billy Tyus, Assistant City Manager <br /> Vasudha Pinnamaraju, Environmental Planner <br /> SUBJECT: Setting the Public Hearing for the Southside TIF Tax Incremer t <br /> Redevelopment Plan and Project. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends setting the Public Hearing for <br /> the Southside TIF Tax Increment Redevelopment Plan and Project for 5:00 p.m. on <br /> Monday, June 3, 2013 in the first floor meeting room of the Decatur Civic Center, 1 Gary <br /> K. Anderson Plaza. <br /> BACKGROUND: The City has been working on specifications related to 1 he proposed <br /> renovation and lease of property at 707 Southside Drive for Decatur Police Department <br /> operations. The City is considering the creation of a TIF district for the area in an effort <br /> to facilitate the development of this project and, potentially, others on the s to in the <br /> future if the project proves to be viable for both the department and BW of Decatur, LLC, <br /> the proposed project developer. In order to eliminate hurdles to developme t of this site, <br /> the developer will be requesting city assistance through the establishment c f a TIF <br /> District, which could help to lower the cost of rent to the City. The TIF Sta ute requires <br /> the City to formally adopt the date and place for a public hearing as part of the process of <br /> establishing a TIF district. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: We have had discussions with the major taxing <br /> districts to notify each of the proposal to create a TIF district to affect redevelopment of <br /> the site. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Billy Tyus at <br /> 424-2727 or at btyus@decaturil.gov <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: N/A <br /> i <br />
