1* Excerpts from Plan Commission Minutes of January 3,2013:
Cal. No. 13-02 Petition of ARCHER DANIELS MIDLAND
m
COMPANY, to rezone property located in the 2600-
2800 BLOCKS of NORTH BLUSH COLLEGE
ROAD and the 2200 BLOCK of NORTH 27`h
40
STREET from M-1 Intense Commercial/Light
Industrial District to M-2 Heavy Industrial District.
oMs. Stickle presented the recommendation of staff:
M The subject site is approximately 140 acres and is located in the 2800 Block of North Brush
College Road and the 2200.Block of North 27"' Street.
Properties to the south and east were approved for rezoning to M-2 Heavy Industrial District by
the City Council in July 2012.
The petitioner proposes to rezone from M-1 Intense Commercial/Light Industrial District to M-2
Heavy Industrial District. ADM is rezoning to create a universal zoning classification between
ADM owned properties. j
The surrounding zoning includes M-1 Intense Commercial/Light Industrialistrict and M-2
Heavv Industrial District to the north and west. M-1 Intense Commercia/Light Industrial
District, M-2 Heavy Industrial District and R-3 Single Family Residence District to the south,
and M-2 Heavy Industrial District and R-3 Single Family Residence District I to the east. The
Macon County and Decatur Comprehensive Plan shows this area as Employmept. The proposed
use is compatible with adjacent uses to the north, southeast, east and west.
Staff recommends approval of the rezoning.
A motion to forward Calendar Number 13-02 to the City Council with a recommendation for
approval is suggested.
Mr. Adam Artz, representative, stated this proposed rezoning is to create a luniversal zoning
classification as Ms. Stickle stated in her report.
Mr. Bruce Frantz asked why Calendar No. 13-01 and 13-02 were not presnted to the Plan
Commission back in July 2012 when ADM rezoned the other properties. * Artz stated that
ADM owns a conglomerate of properties and the surveys were not complete at that time.
There were no objectors present.
It was moved and seconded (Newton/Frantz) to forward Calendar No. 13-02 to the City Council
with recommendation for approval as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.
i
