Aldrich, Manager, MIS Division <br /> SUBJECT: Cable Tray System for Police Facility <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Cou cil approve the <br /> attached resolution, authorizing the attached quote of Bodine Communications of <br /> $35,977.00 for the purchase and installation of the communications cable tray system in <br /> the Police facility at 707 South Side Drive. <br /> BACKGROUND: Per the lease with the developer, the purchase and iIstallation of the <br /> cable tray system at the new Police facility is the responsibility of the City of Decatur. It <br /> is an item that requires completion prior to the installation of infrastructure cabling that <br /> will support voice, data, and video systems in the new facility. <br /> Bodine Communications proposes to provide and install approximately 744 feet of a <br /> Basket Tray Cable system and hangers with proper grounding. This sy0tem will be used <br /> to provide major cable paths to the individual phones, computers, cameras, and CATV <br /> monitors. <br /> In addition to this project, Bodine is already on-site and being utilized by the developer <br /> for major electrical work on the facility. The contractor provides a local presence, and as <br /> with all City projects, will ensure compliance with the Prevailing Wage,Act on this job. <br /> This work is time sensitive, as other steps in the redevelopment of the property depend <br /> upon its completion, and delay would undoubtedly result in additional cost. For these <br /> reasons, staff recommends awarding this work to Bodine Communications under these <br /> circumstances, for an amount not to exceed the quoted price. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTORS: None anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Gerard J.
