According to the land cover data, as <br /> calculated by the 2006 National Land Cover Data set (NLCD), 76% of Macon County is <br /> cultivated crops. Approximately 14% of the County is classified as developed and 1.2% of the <br /> County is classified as seasonally wet to permanently open water. Figure 3 shows the land <br /> cover of the County. The following table is a summary of the land cover data, provided by the <br /> NLCD. <br /> Table 1. The County is situated in the Springfield Plain and the Bloomington <br /> Ridge Plain. The topography is generally level and gently sloping on the broad upland with <br /> greater relief in areas dissected by drainage ways.
