1 Public Works Memorandum No. 2013—49 DATE:August 28, 2013 TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council Members FROM: Ryan P.McCrady,City Manager Richard G.Marley,Public Works Director Deborah M.Perry,Purchasing Supervisor SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the Bid of Jackson Ford, Decatur, Illinois for the Purchase of One (1), 2014 Ford F-250, Heavy Duty % Tod Pick Up Truck with Plow and Platform Body SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding a conttact to Jackson Ford, Decatur, IL. to furnish one(1) 2014 Ford F-250 Heavy Duty 3/ Ton Pick Up Truck with Plow and Platform Body for a total cost of$31,009.00. BACKGROUND: This unit of equipment will be used by the Traffic and Parking Division of the Municipal Services Division and is scheduled for replacement this year. It will replace a 2001 Dodge RAM 2 pickup truck currently in service with 73,374 miles. The current unit will be sold at a later date. The truck is used by the Traffic section service personnel for stripping to maintain the City's streets with traffic lines and directional markings. This unit will also be utilized in plowing snow and applying salt in the City's parking lots. The recently purchased in FY2012-13, Airless Paint Sprayer/Striper is mounted in the bed of this unit. This new pickup truck was specified with a Platform Body to allow better access and versatility of the Airless Paint Sprayer/Striper. OTHER BIDDERS: Bob Ridings Inc., Taylorville, IL, Miles Chevrolet Inc., Decatur, IL, and Bob Brady Auto Mall, Decatur, IL were the only bids received of twelve(12)that were sent out. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None DISPOSAL OF REPLACED UNIT: The old unit will then be sold at a latex date. ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATE: 90 to 120 days after receipt of order. POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this request. Page I 1
