Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: 2013 Miscellaneous Storm and Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project <br /> City Project 2013-09 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution accepting the bid <br /> and awarding the contract for the 2013 Miscellaneous Storm and Sanitary Sewer Improvement <br /> Project, City Project 2013-09, to Barr&Robison Sewer &Excavating, Inc., as the lowest <br /> responsible bidder in the amount of$273,799.05, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the <br /> contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTIONS: <br /> The City Council approved the Stub Year 2013 Capital Improvements Plan which included an <br /> allocation of funds for this project. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Sanitary Sewer Priorities <br /> Under the direction of the City Council, the Public Works Department has established four priorities <br /> to improve the City's sanitary sewer collection system as defined in the Sanitary Sewer Master <br /> Plan. <br /> 1. Critical Large Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation. <br /> 2. Sanitary Sewer Overflows Due to Inflow and Infiltration. <br /> 3. System Operation and Maintenance <br /> 4. Small Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation <br /> The 2013 Miscellaneous Storm and Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project primarily address priority <br /> numbers 3 and 4, system operation and maintenance and small diameter sewer rehabilitation. The <br /> project is an annual project prepared by the Public Works Department to assist with both emergency <br /> repairs and normal improvements to the City's sanitary sewer system. <br /> Page I 1 <br />
