Sweeney, Lieutenant-Administrati Pperation44) <br /> Subject: Barbeck Communications—Annual Service Agreement <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: The purpose of this memorandum is to request the expenditure <br /> of funds to Barbeck Communications for the annual service agreement. It would be the recommenda- <br /> tion of staff that the Decatur Police Department pay Barbeck Communications for the twenty month ser- <br /> vice agreement at the cost of$45,889.00 to be paid out of the designated communications line item(s) <br /> on a monthly basis. The monthly payments would be $2,294.45. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Decatur Police Department has signed agreements with Barbeck Communica- <br /> tions who provides service and maintenance to the communications equipment housed at the MSC, the <br /> Macon County Courthouse, as well as within the Emergency Communications Center. This agreement <br /> covers various pieces of equipment, including the Central Electronics Banks(CEBs), repeaters, combin- <br /> ers, controllers, etc. as well as the on-site service agreement. <br /> The maintenance agreement with Barbeck Communications is a regularly budgeted item and paid on a <br /> monthly basis through the Communication Center budget line item. This contract covers May 1, 2013 <br /> through December 31, 2014. The cost of the 2013-2014 Barbeck Communications Annual Service <br /> Agreement for the communications equipment and the technical support service agreement is <br /> $45,889.00. The agreement was intentionally written for twenty months to get the agreement in line <br /> with the City's new fiscal year.
