Interim measures to prevent erosion during construction shall be taken and may include
the installation-of staked straw bales',sedimentation basins and temporary mulching....All construction
within-the waterway shall be constructed during zero or low flow conditions. The,applicant shall be
responsible for obtaining an NPDES Storm Water Permit prior to initiating construction if the ,
construction activity associated with the project.will result in the disturbance.-of 1 (one)or more acres,
total land area on-or after March 10,'2003. The applicant shall monitor the surface water for dissolved oxygen.(DO),pH,andtemperature at
locations upsteam of each temporary•dam and.locations downstream of each.temporary dam
representative.of the water quality in each area. Prior to construction of the dams,at each sample
location, the applicant shall monitor for the above parameters at near surface, and at mid-depth.
Samples shall betaken within 1 hour before sunrise and at mid-.afternoon. In the pre-construction
phase sampling shall be conducted a minimum one.day per week fortwo weeks. If
any analysis results show less than 6 mg/L DO,hourly sampling shall be conducted until monitoring
shows that the dissolved oxygen standard has been met. Monitoring records shall be kept oftime,
place, method of measurement, and who made the measurement for each sample taken. The applicant j
shall submit monitoring reports of the analysis results by the 15`x'of the month following the month ofin
'
the collection of the samples to.the following address:
j
Illinois-Environmental Protection Agency
Bureau of Water
Watershed Management Section
1021 North Grand Avenue East
Post Office Box 19276 i
Springfield,Illinois 62794-9276
