Perry, Purchasing Supervisor f SUBJECT: Purchase of mag flow meter SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to McCrometer, Inc. to furnish a#395LC full pro insertion mag meter and insertion tool. BACKGROUND: The South Water Treatment Plant's current fifteen (15) year old insertion mag flow meter is in need of new parts that are not available since the meters' design is obsolete. This is a sole source purchase so the new meter can be seamlessly installed into the same location as the old by City staff. Meters from other vendors would require an outside contractor to install them. The meter measures the flow of water from the South Water Treatment Plant to the City's water main system. It is vital that it be as accurate as possible to measure the amount of water pumped from the South Plant to compare with the amount of water billed to customers and water lost in the water main system through leakage. The old meter is of no value and will be scrapped. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Water staff requested the replacement. STAFF REFERENCE: Keith Alexander, Water Management Director, 424-2863. BUDGETARY IMPLICATION: $29,797.00 plus freight from the Water Capital Fund.
