Perry, Purchasing Supervisor <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the Bid of Sherwin-Williams, for the Purchase of One <br /> (1) Airless Paint Sprayer/Striper <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding a contract to Sherwin- <br /> Williams, Decatur, IL to furnish one (1) Airless Paint Sprayer/Striper for a total cost of <br /> $35,418.49. <br /> BACKGROUND: This unit of equipment will be used by the Traffic, Parking & Electrical <br /> Section of the Municipal Services Division. It will replace a 1998 Precision P-1000 with 865 <br /> hours. The current Airless Paint Sprayer/Striper will be auctioned off after the new unit is <br /> delivered. <br /> The Airless Paint Sprayer/Striper is an essential piece of equipment used by the Traffic, Parking <br /> & Electrical Section to maintain the City's streets with traffic lines and directional markings. <br /> This equipment is the only truck mounted traffic line painting equipment the City owns. This <br /> Airless Paint Sprayer/Striper will be mounted on a one (1)ton truck. <br /> OTHER BIDDERS: Bids were also received from Nick's Paints, Champaign, IL and M-B <br /> Companies, New Holstein, WI. <br /> DISPOSAL OF REPLACED UNIT: None of the bidders submitted a bid for trade of the old <br /> Airless Paint Sprayer/Striper. The old unit will then be sold utilizing an auction service that <br /> specializes in disposing of used government equipment. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this request. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: M.V.P.S. Section requested the vehicle. Fleet <br /> Maintenance wrote the bid specifications which were reviewed and approved by the Traffic, <br /> Parking& Electrical Section prior to bid. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard G. Marley, Public Works Director, Rennie A. Young, Fleet <br /> Supervisor, and Jerry C. Nihiser Traffic Supervisor. Richard G.
