COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM <br /> PURCHASING & INTERNAL SERVICES MEMORANDUM <br /> #12-29 <br /> September 18, 2012 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager <br /> Gregg Zientara, Financial Management Director <br /> Deborah M. Perry, Purchasing Supervisor <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for tree & bush removal <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Hamilton Tree <br /> Service to furnish herbicide application and tree and bush removal along the William Street Road <br /> embankment adjacent to Lake Decatur. <br /> BACKGROUND: This project is being done for landscape maintenance of the shoreline. In <br /> addition, from a safety standpoint, it will open the view of traffic on the road. Similar projects <br /> were completed in 2011 on Lake Shore Dr., in 2009 on Route 51 Northbound, and 2007 on Rea's <br /> Bridge Road. <br /> A condition of the bid was the successful vendor must dispose of the landscape debris from this <br /> project in a legal and proper manner or in a landscape waste facility. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Lake Services requested the work and wrote the <br /> specifications. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Keith Alexander, Water Department Director, 424-2863. Randy <br /> Miller, Water Services Manager, 875-5705. Keith will be at the meeting to answer any questions <br /> the council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $42,000 Tree & Bush Removal <br /> 1,800 Herbicide application <br /> $43,800 from the Lake Services Operating Budget <br />
