Perry, Purchasing Supervisor6lf <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for street materials <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contracts to the low <br /> bidders listed on Exhibit A for each of the street materials for May 7, 2012 —April 30, 2013. <br /> BACKGROUND: The following is a list of the street materials and how they are used by <br /> Public Works. <br /> Asphalt—pothole patching, street repairs, utility cut repairs <br /> Crushed stone—grading alleys, backfill driveways after culvert installation, <br /> backfill utility cuts. <br /> Portland cement concrete—sidewalk replacement, pavement repairs, sewer <br /> repairs, utility cut repairs. <br /> Corrugated polyethylene pipe—storm sewer repairs, drainage. <br /> Corrugated steel pipe—driveway culverts, street drainage, ditch drainage. <br /> The low bidders are providing material that meets the requirements of the Illinois Department of <br /> Transportation, Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Street Division requested the materials and Engineering <br /> wrote the bid specifications. Both recommend approval of the bid. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, 424-2747. Dan Mendenall, <br /> Street Supervisor, 875-4820. Richard Marley will be at the council meeting to answer questions <br /> the council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: General Fund. <br />
