Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: 2012 Trenchless Long Lining Repairs <br /> City Project 2012-28 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution approving a contract in the <br /> amount of$416,674.25 for 2012 Trenchless Long Lining Repairs, City Project 2012-28, to <br /> Insituform Technologies USA, LLC, as the lowest qualified bidder and that the Mayor be <br /> authorized to execute the contract and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> The City Council approved the FY 2011-12 Capital Improvements Plan which allocated funds for <br /> this project. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Sanitary Sewer Priorities <br /> Under the direction of the City Council, the Public Works Department has established four priorities <br /> to improve the City's sanitary sewer collection system as defined in the Sanitary Sewer Master <br /> Plan. <br /> 1. Critical Large Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation. <br /> 2. Sanitary Sewer Overflows Due to Inflow and Infiltration. <br /> 3. System Operation and Maintenance <br /> 4. Small Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation <br /> The 2012 Trenchless Long Lining Repairs project primarily addresses priority number 4 by <br /> repairing deteriorated sanitary sewer pipes. Secondly, the lining work also addresses priorities 2 <br /> and 3 by decreasing the amount of ground water infiltration into the system and reducing the <br /> operation and maintenance costs in the system. <br /> 2012 Trenchless Long Lining Project <br /> The purpose of this project is to repair structural deficiencies in the sanitary system with a minimum <br /> disruption to service and disturbance to the surface. Structural deficiencies include broken and <br /> missing pieces of pipe, offset pipe joints and voids. All of the project locations were derived from <br /> the annual televised inspection reports. <br /> Page I 1 <br />
