Bauer, Assistant City Manager for Administration <br /> Randy Aldrich, Manager, MIS Division <br /> SUBJECT: Purchase of VMware View and Support for VDI Project <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached resolution, <br /> authorizing the City Manager to execute a purchase agreement with <br /> Presidio for VMware View 5 Premier Bundle and production <br /> support/subscription. <br /> BACKGROUND: VMware View 5 Premier is the software platform for implementing <br /> the enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. It is the essential <br /> software element for this initiative. The pricing is off the Illinois State <br /> contract for VMware products through Presidio. They were low bid <br /> out of 3 bids received. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTORS: None anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Gerard J. Bauer, Management Services Director(424-2805); <br /> Randy Aldrich, MIS Manager (450-2239) <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: The $11,656.25 will be paid from the MIS Capital Fund, and is within <br /> existing appropriation authorizations. <br />
