Public Works Memorandum NO. 2012-13 DATE: February 24, 2012 TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council Members FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager Richard G. Marley, P.E., Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Expenditure of City Funds to Repair Damaged Street Light in the 1200 Block of West Main Street SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution approving an expenditure of $5,762.68 with Egizii Electric, Inc. (Egizii) for the parts and labor to repair a decorative street light pole and fixture in the 1200 block of West Main Street. PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: No prior Council action has been taken on the repair of this decorative street light. BACKGROUND: On Wednesday, October 12, 2011, City staff became aware of a traffic accident in which a decorative street light was severely damaged. The damaged luminaire and shroud were removed by City crews. The City contracted with Egizii Electric, Inc. for replacement of the damaged fixtures. Replacement parts were ordered by Egizii and installation of a new light pole along with luminaire was completed February 1, 2012. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this request. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, Matt Newell, City Engineer and Jerry Nihiser, Traffic and Parking Supervisor. Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item. BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Budget Impact: Funding for the expenditure is $5,762.68 and will be paid from the General Fund. Reimbursement of all costs will be pursued through insurance claims.
