MANAGEMENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Management Information Services Division
MEMORANDUM NO. 2012-01
March 5, 2012
MEMO TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager
Gerard J. Bauer, Assistant City Manager for Administration
Randy G. Aldrich, Manager, MIS Division
SUBJECT: Purchase of IBM DB2 Passport Advantage Maintenance Agreement
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached
resolution, authorizing the renewal of the IBM D132
Passport Advantage Maintenance Agreement with IBM,
Corp.
BACKGROUND: The majority of our in-house developed applications are
based on a DB2 database. These systems are critical in
the day to day operations. This is a 12 month agreement,
effective April 1, 2012. It will allow us to update to the
most currently available version of the software for the
duration of the Agreement. It will also give us access to
IBM support resources and personnel for problem
resolution. This gives us a measure of protection for the
City of Decatur's investment in D132 software, applications
and training.
POTENTIAL OBJECTORS: None anticipated.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None.
STAFF REFERENCE: Gerard J. Bauer, Management Services Director (424-
2801); Randy G. Aldrich, MIS Manager (450-2239)
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: The $6,885.00 will be paid from the MIS Fund,
reimbursed on a pro rata basis from other funds, and is
within existing appropriation authorizations. It is a 12
month extension of our current agreement, effective April
1, 2012.
2 Attachments
