R2012-06 APPROVING EXPENDITURE FOR THE PURCHASE OF VARIOUS STREET LIGHT POLES AND LUMINAIRES

Street Light Order This street light order will purchase the following: 39- 12' Pedestrian Street lights. See Fixture A on Figure 1. These lights are currently being installed on Water Street. As part of the Main Street project they will be used primarily on Prairie Avenue with some on Main Street to supplement the larger 30 street lights being installed. This order will include 5 spare lights to be used for maintenance purposes. 14- Lighted Bollards. See Fixture B on Figure 1. These bollards match the street lights and are used primarily in and around the small parking lots at Main and Main. This order will include 3 spare lighted bollards to be used for maintenance purposes. 5- 30' Street Lights. See Fixture C on Figure 1. These lights are similar to the lights on Eldorado and on North Street. The tall overhead lights are the main light being installed on Main, Franklin, and other side streets as part of the streetscape work. The lights being installed with the project are being provided by the contractor. These lights are to be used as spares for maintenance purposes. 16- 22' Pedestrian Street Lights. See Fixture E on Figure 1. These lights are to be placed on Merchant Street. They utilize a steel pole that adds strength, along with added height, to allow a cable with LED lights to extend between the poles. This order will include 2 spare lights to be used for maintenance purposes. Future street light purchases will be proposed as design work progresses and as quantities are confirmed for Central Park, which will include North and South Park Streets, and for the Franklin Street corridor. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Massie Massie and Associates STAFF REFERENCE: Richard G. BUDGEU/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Budget Impact: Funding for this work is allocated as part of the General Obligation Bonds authorized by the City Council on November 15, 2010. The Resolution authorizes the expenditure of$243,713.28 to purchase street lights for the Main Street Streetscape project.
