3. Compare options for construction of a barrier suitable for the conditions at the
Lake Decatur dam.
a. Options, including physical, chemical, and electrical barriers, will be
evaluated for their advantages and disadvantages, and a preliminary
estimate of construction cost of each option will be developed. As part of
this work effort possible hydraulic effects on the performance of the dam
and gates will be investigated. Examples of potential options include, but
are not limited to:
i. A secondary rock dam below the sluice gate works constructed high
enough to control the carp while still able to pass the sluice gate
discharge.
ii. A physical barrier structure below the bascule gates.
iii. Modifications to the existing sluice gate trash racks.
iv. Physical, chemical, or electrical barrier below the existing tailwater
dam.
b. Coordinate with the City in order for the City to identify preferred barrier
options.
4. Prepare draft report to include findings of study effort and recommended options.
a. Submit draft report for review and comment by the City.
b. Meeting with the City to discuss review comments.
C. Submit three copies of the final report to the City.
