Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Establishing Handicapped Parking Space in Front of 1637 East <br /> North Street <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing the installation of a <br /> handicapped parking space in front of 1637 East North Street as recommended by the Traffic and <br /> Parking Commission. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Traffic and Parking Commission on September 27, 2012, voted to recommend the <br /> installation of a handicapped parking space in front of 1637 East North Street, which was <br /> requested by Mark and Vicki Wood, who reside at this location. North Street is open to public <br /> parking at this location. All three residents living at 1637 East North Street are reported to be <br /> disabled and an on-street handicapped parking space will provide them with better access. <br /> SCHEDULE: Installation is normally completed within 10 days of Council authorization. <br /> BUDGET AND STAFFING IMPLICATIONS: Sign installation and pavement markings cost <br /> approximately$400. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION; No objections anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director,AT 424- <br /> 2747 <br /> Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> Matt Newell, City Engineer, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br /> Attachments: 3 <br /> Cc: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> Mark and Vicki Wood <br /> Page 1 <br />
