Excerpts from the
Traffic & Parking Commission Meeting
September 27, 2012
Item#2 Request for stop signs at the intersection of William Street and Oakcrest
Avenue facing William Street.
Griffin Enyart explained that stop signs had been requested by an area resident concerned about
the sight distance of this intersection. There are hedges located on both north corners right on
the road. Drivers have to creep forward at the intersection to look around the corner. There has
only been one accident at this intersection in the last three years which is an accident rate of two
accidents per million vehicles. Griffin went back one more year and there had been one vehicle
accident showing a pattern with a rate of three accidents per million vehicles over four years.
Staff recommends that stop signs be installed at the intersection facing William Street.
Lyle Meador motioned to approve the recommendation to install stop signs at the intersection of
William Street and Oakcrest Avenue facing Williams Street; seconded by Richard Marley, and
on call of the roll, Commission Member Anderson, Winter, Garry, Harris, Marley, Meador,
Stewart, Newell, Nihiser, Enyart voted aye. The Acting Chairman declared the motion carried.
