PLAYERS rA .r CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR I'll See You t4rel September 17,2012 Linda Swartz City of Decatur #1 Gary K.Anderson Plaza Decatur, IL 62523 Ms.Swartz: With approval of the City Manager's office,the Tate & Lyle Players Championship and United Way request formal approval of the City Council for road closure and alcohol consumption during an event in Downtown Decatur on Saturday, October 13 from 4:00 to 9:00 pm entitled Pro Shot Challenge sponsored by JL Hubbard Insurance & Bonds, McLeod Trucking, Miles Chevrolet, Refreshment Services Pepsi, Romano Company and Skeff Distributing. The details of the Pro Shot Challenge are as follows: • The Tate & Lyle Players Championship and United Way will pre-sell numbered golf balls at$100.00 each (120 available)for a chance to win a substantial prize for closest to the pin with proceeds to cover operational costs of the event. • The public will be invited to come to Downtown Decatur and watch the spectacle while enjoying food and drink from various vendors. • Beach House Restaurant will provide food & Budweiser products for sale with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to the Tate& Lyle Players Championship and United Way. • Refreshment Services Pepsi will provide non-alcoholic beverages for purchase. • Local Golf Pros and "celebrity pros"will be stationed on the roof of the Barnes Citizens building and will hit balls off a platform from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. • Balls will be chipped to large target in green space. • A structure will surround the memorial in the park to ensure that no damage occurs. • Spectators will view the shots on a large projector in real time. • Volunteers will mark numbered balls and their proximity to the target. • Purchaser of closest ball will receive seven days lodging in Hilton Head, South Carolina for up to six people as well as tickets to the Heritage Golf Tournament with Jim Kimmons acting as host and providing a behind the scenes experience. • The Pro who executed the shot will receive a trophy. • Immediately following an awards ceremony will take place. • A band will then perform from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
