DEVELOPMENT SERVICES MEMORANDUM
PC Cal. No. 12-20
August 2, 2012
TO: Plan Commission Members
FROM: Joselyn A. Stewart, Transportation Planner
SUBJECT: 4000 Block of Gun Club Road and the 3000 Block of Christmas Tree Road-
ADM Petition
On July 5, 2012 this item was heard and tabled by the Plan Commission in order for the
petitioner to address some of the objectors' questions and concerns. The petitioner has met with
neighboring residents and has considered the reduction in area to be rezoned. A map showing
the area that is being considered to be rezoned is in the packet.
The consideration includes not rezoning those parcels located next to the residential properties
located along the lake.
A new legal description of the property considered to be rezoned will be distributed at the Plan
Commission hearing on August 2, 2012.
The subject site is approximately 154 acres and is located in the 4000 Block of Gun Club Road
and the 3000 Block of Christmas Tree Road. The site was formerly known as Faries Park.
The petitioner proposed to rezone from R-1 Single Family Residence District to M-2 Heavy
Industrial District. ADM purchased the property to allow for the future expansion and
development of industrial facilities and utility infrastructure associated with the agriculture
process and biofuels production at the ADM Decatur, Illinois facility.
Staff recommends approval of the rezoning.
