DEVELOPMENT SERVICES MEMORANDUM <br /> No. 12-33 <br /> July 11, 2012 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Michael T. McElroy and City Council <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager <br /> Billy Tyus, Assistant City Manager <br /> Suzan M. Stickle, Senior Planner <br /> Joselyn A. Stewart, Transportation Planner <br /> SUBJECT: Amend PD Planned Development District at 3253 North Brush College Road <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the Planned <br /> Development amendment with the following conditions: 1.) All portable and temporary signage <br /> be removed prior to building permits being released; 2.) The new sign cabinet shall not exceed <br /> 80 square feet in total size; 3.) The total sign area shall not exceed 75 square feet with the <br /> Electronic Message Unit portion of the sign not exceeding 37 square feet in area.; and 4.) The <br /> sign shall not exceed eleven (11) feet one and one-half (1.5) inches in height. The City Plan <br /> Commission voted 8-0 to recommend approval of this petition at the July 5, 2012 meeting; the <br /> minutes of the meeting are attached. <br /> BACKGROUND: The petitioner proposes to amend their Planned Development in order to add <br /> an electronic message unit (EMU). The PD amendment is consistent with the intent of the <br /> originally approved Planned Development. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There were no known objectors at the Plan Commission <br /> Meeting. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The PD Planned Development amendment has been <br /> reviewed by the City's Technical Review Committee; Planning, Engineering and Fire have <br /> approved the amendment. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Joselyn A. Stewart at <br /> 424-2782 or at jstewartkdecaturil.gov. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None. <br />
