ORDINANCE NO. 2012-32 <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY CODE <br /> CHAPTER 34—TRAFFIC AND PARKING <br /> BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, <br /> ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That Section 19 of Chapter 34 of the City Code of the City of Decatur be, and <br /> the same is hereby, amended and modified so that as so modified said Section 19 of Chapter 34 <br /> shall provide as follows: <br /> 19. PARKING SPACES. Where parking spaces on the street or in off-street parking <br /> facilities of the City are designated by marking lines or by painting, no person shall park a <br /> vehicle in such manner as to occupy two spaces nor shall a person permit or allow more than one <br /> vehicle to occupy said space. All vehicles shall be so parked as not to interfere with or obstruct <br /> the parking of vehicles in adjacent spaces, except as follows: Vehicles of the second division as <br /> defined by the Illinois Vehicle Code may be parked parallel in more than one space if the length <br /> of said vehicle so requires, provided said vehicle shall not be so parked as to obstruct other <br /> traffic, and provided further that the appropriate coin shall be inserted in the appropriate parking <br /> payment device of each space occupied, as provided in this Chapter. However, such vehicle must <br /> observe the time limits applicable to the parking spaces in which said vehicle is parked. <br /> Section 2. That Section 25 of Chapter 34 of the City Code of the City of Decatur be, and <br /> the same is hereby, amended and modified so that as so modified said Section 25 of Chapter 34 <br /> shall provide as follows: <br /> 25. TIME LIMITS. The City Manager or designee is empowered to establish maximum <br /> time limits for a person to stand, stop, or park a vehicle on any street, alley or public parking lot. <br /> The City Manager shall file a map or written report establishing said time limits with the City <br /> Clerk thirty(30) days before the time limits shall become effective. The Public Works Director <br /> or designees shall erect official signs giving notice thereof maximum parking time limits. No <br /> person shall park a vehicle within said parking space for longer than the time designated for the <br /> street or parking space described therein. This section shall apply to both pay parking zones and <br /> free parking zones. <br /> Section 3. That Section 73, paragraph A of Chapter 34 of the City Code of the City of <br /> Decatur be, and the same is hereby, amended and modified so that as so modified said Section 73 <br /> of Chapter 34 shall provide as follows: <br /> 292 <br />
