Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Authorizing the Installation of a Handicap Parking Space in <br /> Front of 380 West Marietta Street. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing the installation of a <br /> handicapped parking space in front of 380 West Marietta Street as recommended by the Traffic <br /> and Parking Commission. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Traffic and Parking Commission on May 10, 2011, voted to recommend the installation of a <br /> handicapped parking space in front of 380 West Marietta Street, which was requested by Ms. <br /> Michelle Hill, who resides at this location. Parking on West Marietta Street is currently open to <br /> public parking and is the location closest to her residence for Ms. Hill, who is disabled, to park. <br /> The space is currently designated under a 90 day order by the Police Chief. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION; No objections anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, at 424- <br /> 2747 <br /> Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> Richard Marley, Public Works Director, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to <br /> answer any questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> The handicapped parking sign was installed under a 90 day order from the Police Department. <br /> Sign installation and pavement markings cost approximately$400. <br /> Page 1 <br />
