TO: Mayor McElroy and City Council Members
FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager
Celeste F. Harris, City Clerk
RE: OAKLAND AVENUE
DATE: May 11, 2011
At Monday's meeting, the City Council will be asked to adopt the
attached ordinance allowing for the consumption of alcoholic liquor
on Oakland Avenue between West Main and West Wood Streets.
Gregg Meisenhelter, owner of Lock Stock and Barrel, and many
other properties along Oakland Avenue, has requested the closure
of Oakland Avenue for a block party. It is the intention of Mr.
Meisenhelter to reorganize the Oakwood Business Association and
to use the block party event to raise awareness about environmental
issues and to benefit local agencies. The license classification
g
issued to Lock Stock and Barrel allows for liquor consumption on
Oakland Avenue but with the approval of the City Council. Mr.
Meisenhelter will issue wristbands to patrons during the event.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Attachment
