Stickle, Senior Planner SUBJECT: Annexation of the premises commonly known as 1894 Commonwealth Avenue, SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the attached annexation petition be approved. Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would produce a logical extension of the corporate limits. BACKGROUND: A valid petition seeking voluntary annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the City Clerk's Office. Containing approximately 0.6 acres, the property is developed with a single family residence. The property is surrounded by properties zoned R-1, Single Family Residence District to the North, East and West; property to the South is in the County. When annexed, the area will come into the city as R-1, Single Family Residence District. The following information is relevant to the area in question: 1. The parcel is currently developed with a single family residence. 2. City water is available at Commonwealth Avenue. 3. Sanitary sewer is available. 4. The average fire response time from the Decatur Fire Department is four (4) minutes and forty- five(45) seconds. 5. Commonwealth Avenue is constructed of asphalt and maintained by the City of Decatur. Because Commonwealth Avenue is already a City Street due to prior annexations, the annexation of 1894 Commonwealth Avenue does not increase infrastructure maintenance or rehabilitation obligations. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: N/A. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by Municipal Services, Engineering, Fire, Legal, Finance,the Macon County Health Department. BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Additional annual revenue of approximately $708.04 would become available from the combined total real estate ($356.06) motor fuel ($162.91) and state income taxes($189.07).
