Water well information is normally gathered through the use of the Source Water Assessment
Program (SWAP) database. This database is maintained by the IEPA and is a compilation of
data from the Illinois State Geologic Survey, the Illinois State Water Survey, the Illinois
Department of Public Health, and the IEPA.
Each site is discussed below:
1. Speedway Super America site at 3798 North Woodford Street
The estimated area impacted by contaminated ground water is shown on Figure 2 in the
information provided by Speedway's environmental engineer, Practical Environmental
Consultants, Inc. A_significant portion of the area with potential for contamination is north
of the City limits. If required to pursue ground water restrictions in areas outside the City
limits, Speedway will need to make a request to the Macon County Board.
Practical Environmental has completed a water well survey through the IEPA's SWAP
database and has determined that no potable water wells exist in the proposed ground water
ordinance area. City water serves the area so wells should not be needed.
2. Circle K#151 site located at 501 North Main Street
The estimated area impacted by contaminated ground water is shown on Figure 1 in the
information provided by Circle K's environmental engineer, American Environmental
Corporation.
American Environmental has completed a water well survey through the IEPA's SWAP
database and has determined that no potable water wells exist in the proposed ground water
ordinance area. City water serves the area so wells should not be needed.
3. Strip Mall site located at 2192 through 2952 North Martin Luther King,Jr. Drive
The estimated area impacted by contaminated ground water is shown on figure 6 in the
information provided by the strip mall's environmental engineer, Bodine Environmental
Services, Inc.
Bodine has completed a water well survey through the IEPA's SWAP database and has
determined that no potable water wells exist in the proposed ground water ordinance area.
City water serves the area so wells should not be needed
Frequently asked questions are attached hereto as Appendix A for the information of the City
Council.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this ordinance.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Practical Environmental Consultants, Inc., Bodine
Environmental Services, Inc., American Environmental Corporation
STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Director of Public Works and Matt Newell, City
Engineer. Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any
questions of the Council on this item.
Page 12
